Maryland - Mandatory Masks in the Workplace

On November 11, 2020, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan release Executive Order 20-11-10-01 which, among business closure orders and other requirements, mandates masks in the workplace where interaction with others is likely, including in shared commercial offices, and where food is prepared or packaged. However, a mask is not required if:

  • It would be unsafe for someone to wear it because of their disability or medical condition; or
  • It would hinder communication with persons who have a hearing impairment or other disability, where the ability to see someone’s mouth is essential for communication.

The order took effect on November 11, 2020 and stays in effect until otherwise revised or revoked.
